Mustafa Badreddin (born April 6, 1961 – martyred May 10, 2016), who was also known as Mustafa Amin Badreddin, Mostafa Yusuf Badreddin, Sami Isa and Elias Fouad Saeb, was a leader of the military branch of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the cousin and brother-in-law of martyr Emad Mughniyeh.
Some news sources have introduced Badreddin as the commander-in-chief of the Lebanese Hezbollah branch. Mustafa Badreddin had a history and a special position in Hezbollah, he was called as the successor of Imad Mughniyeh.
In the early 1980s, Mustafa Badreddin was imprisoned for a while on charges of plotting to blow up the American embassy in Kuwait and to assassinate the Emir of that country, but with the occupation of Kuwait by Iraq, he returned to Lebanon and started cooperating with Lebanon’s Hezbollah. The United Nations special judicial commission to investigate the assassination of Rafiq Hariri, the former prime minister of Lebanon, issued a legal prosecution order against him, but this order was never implemented.
In 2012, the United States sanctioned Badr al-Din for actively supporting the Syrian government and participating in the repression and killing of the people of that country. According to American sources, this person was among the effective members in the management of Hezbollah’s military operations in Syria.
On Friday, 24 May 1395, al-Manar TV station, affiliated with the Lebanese Hezbollah group, reported that Mustafa Badreddin, one of the senior commanders of the military branch of this group, was killed in Syria.
Speculations about his death
Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, said a week after Badreddin was killed: “This organization does not accuse the Israeli forces in the context of the killing of Mustafa Badreddin in Syria.” He also said: “All the signs indicate that the takfiri groups of the region committed this crime”
Badr al-Din was arrested in Kuwait on charges of involvement in the bombing of the American embassy in Kuwait in 1983. He was sentenced to death, but was released after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
Gadi Eisenkot, Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, says that according to the investigation of the Israeli Intelligence Organization, Mustafa Badreddin, the military commander of the Lebanese Hezbollah, was killed by the group’s own members. General Eisenkot said: “This killing shows a deep crisis within Hezbollah.” After the martyrdom of Mustafa Badr al-Din in May 2016, there was a wave in the Arab media that Mustafa Badr al-Din was a victim of Hezbollah’s internal cleansing and was killed by the party’s own agents or its allies.
Accurate information indicates that the martyr Mustafa Badruddin was assassinated on Thursday night when his meeting was over in one of the Hizbullah positions near the Damascus airport.
Therefore, according to the report, after the meeting, most of the martyr’s comrades separated from him, and while he was still in the courtyard of the camp, a strong explosion occurred, which is now known to be the cause of a very advanced guided missile that was two meters away from the martyr of Badr. Al-Din has landed. The said missile has a function similar to “vacuum bombs” and without its shrapnel hitting the victim’s body, it causes an internal explosion in his body. When the body of martyr Badruddin was taken to the hospital, it was found that only a few small shrapnel hit his stomach and back of his head, but the blood came out of the martyr’s eyes and nose. This situation shows the pressure that the explosion has put on the internal organs of the body.
According to the available information, such a missile cannot be fired from a normal launch platform, unlike a cannon ball or a mortar, but it is fully steerable and is fired based on accurate observation of the target’s position.
This type of missile and its application requires high technology that is only available to the armies of advanced countries, and it seems that this advanced missile was used by some regional or western intelligence and military services under the guidance of active terrorist groups. It was shot in Syria.
However, the; Al-Manar TV channel announced in an urgent news that Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced that the explosion that killed Mustafa Badruddin, one of Hezbollah’s commanders, was caused by an artillery attack by Takfiri groups.
This honorable martyr started his jihad and campaigning activities in the sensitive security and military areas of the resistance, he was always wanted by the spy organizations of the Zionist regime, the United States and England, and he survived many terror operations.
Martyr Badreddin spent his whole life fighting against Israel. He and Shahid Mughniyeh were in the ranks of the 17th forces of the Fatah Movement in 1982 and then joined Hezbollah. Since the occupation of Lebanon by the Zionist regime until his martyrdom, he had participated in numerous conflicts against the Zionist enemy. He was one of the elements of the team that stood against the Israeli army in the famous clashes of Khalda and prevented this army from entering Beirut from the southern gates.
Martyr Badreddin was also in charge of Hezbollah’s military operations outside of Lebanon. Since 2012, when he assumed responsibility for Hezbollah’s military presence in Syria; At the same time, he was blacklisted by the United States. He was accused by this country of being involved in the 1983 explosion of the headquarters of the US Navy.
Personality characteristics
Shahid Badr al-Din had a very charismatic and strict personality in terms of discipline and education. Meanwhile, inside Hezbollah, he was known as an experienced and very professional commander, as it is said that he could fire two guns at the same time and hit the target.
In the field of military tactics, he had a very high intelligence and many within Hezbollah attribute to him the major victories and the creation of military and operational tactics.
This martyr also adhered to security protocols throughout his life and did not use a mobile phone for more than a day and did not allow anyone to use a mobile phone around his presence. That is why not much information and pictures of him are available.
Attempted character assassination
Another issue is the amount of bad propaganda by the Zionists and the Saudi current media against the martyr Badreddin, so that in the past years, the opposition media, in addition to the Zionists’ attempt to physically assassinate him, have also tried very hard to assassinate the martyr’s character and morals, including issues such as bad morals. His presence, education in Ukraine, gold trade or moral accusations about this martyr are very visible in the Saudi current media.
The volume of negative propaganda and character assassination against him by the Western and Saudi media had become a normal issue among Hezbollah members, and Shahid Badreddin was known as a person who has always been the target of these attacks.
The accusation of being involved in the assassination of Rafiq Hariri, the former prime minister of Lebanon, was the reason for the flood of media attacks against martyr Badreddin. An accusation that has not been proven yet.
