In the first press conference related to the Islamic Awakening Conference, Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, the Leader’s advisor in foreign affairs and the secretary general of the Islamic Awakening Conference, said: “Considering the fact that intellectuals of the Islamic Republic had suggested earlier that it is appropriate and necessary to hold a conference on Islamic Awakening for intellectuals of the Muslim world, the Islamic Awakening Conference will be held on September 11-12 in order to exchange ideas about the wave of Islamic Awakening happening in the world of Islam.”
He stated that in the conference, intellectuals of the world of Islam will exchange views about the historic effects of Islamic Awakening on the world in general and the world of Islam in particular.
He added that more than 500 people from 80 countries have been invited to the conference.
Dr. Velayati said that the two-day Islamic Awakening Conference will be attended by Iranian and foreign intellectuals and prominent figures and added that there will be five special commissions. “One special commission of the conference will discuss and analyze the history and tenets of Islamic Awakening and another commission will discuss the figures who have played a role in Islamic Awakening. The in-depth study of the unified Islamic front and the issues and problems as well as the goals and prospects of Islamic Awakening are among other topics that will be discussed in the conference.”
