About five months after stepping down from power, Hosni Mubarak was tried in Cairo along with his two sons and a number of officials from his former regime on August 12, 2013; This is while the people of Egypt are desperately waiting to see Mubarak’s trial and his face behind the bars.

Strict security measures have been implemented in the Egyptian capital, and according to reports, security forces have fired aerial shots in Tahrir Square to disperse the protesters.

Al-Arabiya TV channel also announced in an urgent news about the conflict near the Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital in Egypt.

Egyptian authorities have chosen a police training center north of Cairo as the venue for the trial.

The court session starts at 7:00 am GMT  and about 600 people, including journalists, were allowed to participate in it.

A cage-like metal enclosure has been installed in the courtroom to keep the accused.

In addition to Hosni Mubarak, Jamal and Ala, his two sons, Habib al-Adli, the former interior minister of Egypt, and six former government officials will also be tried.

Hossein Salem, the wanted businessman, is another defendant who will be tried in absentia.

All these people are accused of financial corruption and involvement in the killing of protestors.

The families of a number of people who were killed in anti-government protests are also present in the court  they had.

On the other hand, Mubarak’s fans are also happy  They were present in Mustafa Mahmoud Square. They have chosen this square in front of Tahrir Square since the beginning of the crisis. They went to the police academy in the morning of the court day  they went.

They say that human shields were formed in front of the police academy to defend Mubarak against possible attacks by the families of victims or revolutionaries  have given, because thousands of families of victims or revolutionaries may go to the police academy trying to enter the court.

Hosni Mubarak, 83 years old, stepped down from power after about 30 years on February 11 (Bahman 22), after the spread of protests and intensifying international pressure.

Initially, the defendants were supposed to be tried in a building in the center of Cairo, but the president of the court, Abdul Aziz Omar, announced that it is difficult to secure the mentioned building, and for this reason, the trial will be held in a police training headquarters that is far from the city center.

The former interior minister of Egypt was previously tried in connection with the corruption case and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The Egyptian News Agency recently reported on Hosni Mubarak’s deteriorating condition and announced that he refuses to eat enough food.
Egyptian authorities say that the former leader of this country cannot be transferred from the hospital to the prison until the day of the trial due to heart failure.

Majdi Hossein, Secretary General of the Islamic Action Party of Egypt, considered the trial of Hosni Mubarak to be a great achievement for the January 25th revolution of this country. He talked about the measures taken on the eve of Hosni Mubarak’s trial  took it, said: Undoubtedly, we are facing a historical event that is unprecedented in the history of Egypt or Arab and Islamic history; Because rulers are only overthrown or killed but not tried.

He added: This is a great achievement for the January 25th Revolution and an achievement for the youth who insisted on sitting in Tahrir Square in Cairo. This shows that the continuation of the sit-in and protests made the trial a reality, so this is a positive action.

Amnesty International, in a message, called for a fair and transparent trial of the deposed president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak. Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa Director Malcolm Smart said this trial is a historic opportunity for Egypt to try the former president of the country and his close associates. This trial should be transparent and fair, at least for the sake of those who were killed in the Egyptian uprising.
