This statistic, which consists of the death of 240 children every day and night because of not having a bite of bread, puts before us other dimensions of a disaster for which all humanity is responsible.
Not much should be said about the responsibility of the westerners in this regard! For example, “Pavel Molinaro”, one of the officials of the International Fund for the Protection of Somali Children, called the lack of liquidity the most important needs of this organization and added: This organization has asked the airlines to refrain from charging the flight fee for the entry of needed items from Europe to India and then to Somalia!
The countries that spend billions of dollars on the war in Afghanistan and Libya and maintaining their military forces in Iraq and other parts of the world have put the Somali children’s protection fund in such a dire situation that the person in charge of it asks the airline companies to come and provide us with free goods. carry Burns, one of the UN experts, also said that one of the problems in the current international situation is the donor countries. Western countries, China and India are among the countries that did not participate in helping Somalia and allocating the required budget.
Some rich Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia, currently prefer their money to be used to stabilize the repressive regime of Al-Khalifa, rather than the bellies stuck to the backs of the Somali people, who are victims of the excesses of the West on the one hand and Salafism exported by the Saudi Wahhabis on the other. A group like al-Shabaab, which is not entirely blameless in the tragedies of Somalia and has not allowed a centralized government to be established in this country so that it can at least help in the event of a famine, is a Wahhabi and takfiri group. One of the masterpieces of this group was not long ago when it declared eating samosa as haram, that is for people who have fallen to the ground and cannot find anything to eat.
In some blogs, the activists of our compatriots have written that if every Iranian donates an amount equal to 200,000 Rials (20,000 Tomans) to the famine victims of Somalia, all 12 million people of this country will be saved from famine. Of course, it is obvious that the duty of helping the Somali people is not the only duty of the Iranians, but the high character of the Iranians makes it obligatory for them to spend what they have in their power to help the Somali people. Naturally, the ability of some sections of the people of our country to help is less than this, but there are also some sections that have the ability to help several times this amount.
The hungry and famine-stricken people of Somalia are looking forward to the help of their Muslim brothers and sisters because they know that help will not come from anyone but them. Of course, we do not deny that many people’s organizations in the West are trying to help the people of Somalia, and honestly, their efforts are appreciable. These, of course, act in the opposite way to their governments, and their efforts are commendable in every way.
It should not be forgotten that after the First World War, the Iranian nation was caught in a similar situation in the midst of occupation and civil wars, until the people could not find anything to eat and many perished. Today, the people of Somalia are in the same situation as it is in the historical memory of Iranians. If we believe in the proverb of an Iranian who “went to the sea, he knows the calamities of the storm”, now we understand well the calamities of the Somali nation in our historical memory and we must hurry to help them. Meanwhile, the nation and the government of Iran both share a common humanitarian duty in helping the Somali people.
