On July 7, 1990, I was invited by Izadkhasat friends to participate in the 120th martyrs’ memorial of that region to give a speech. Through Shahreza, we reached Abadeh, seventy kilometers away from that city, to Izadkhas, which dates back to five hundred years before Isfahan. A city whose ancient monuments remain unknown and tourists have not yet discovered that area well.
According to residents, during the eight-year holy war and defense of the Iranian nation, the population of this land was 4,000 people, and during the eight years, 120 martyrs and a large number of veterans sacrificed their lives for the revolution. If we subtract this number from the population of immigrants who migrated to Ahvaz, Isfahan and other cities, and certainly a large number of them went to the front and offered martyrdom, it is significant compared to the population of martyrs in the country.
When we reached the city, we could see the signs showing that the third martyrs’ memorial is being held. At the entrance of the event, there was an exhibition decorated with the pictures of martyrs and frontline trenches, which beautifully evoked the atmosphere of the frontline.
A large crowd had gathered. Maghrib and Isha congregational prayers were held. The ceremony of reciting verses of the Qur’an began and ended after a speech and praise. Shahidi’s son also read the message of the martyrs, which was remarkable.
After the Basij ceremony, they gave me a CD containing the report of the second memorial, and I promised to post part of its content in memory of the martyrs on my website. I have fulfilled my promise now. Maybe I have paid my smallest debt. I hope to get the report of this year’s summit as well.
