The vice chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Council said: The secretary of the Supreme Council of Iranians Abroad was arrested this morning due to financial charges and the existence of many cases in the judiciary.
In a conversation with Mehr reporter, Ismail Kothari said: Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, the secretary of the Supreme Council of Iranians Abroad, was arrested this morning due to the accusations.
He added: Previously, the National Security Commission had given many warnings to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other government institutions due to Malekzadeh’s many accusations.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Parliament emphasized: Malekzadeh had reached the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from the Supreme Council of Iranians while there were many cases of his administrative and financial violations in the judiciary.A few days ago, Malekzadeh was appointed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the position of deputy financial administrator of this ministry, which resulted in the strong reaction of the representatives of the Islamic Council and the announcement of the impeachment of Ali Akbar Salehi with 33 signatures.Following the pressure of the representatives, Malekzadeh resigned from this position on Tuesday, June 31st, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs quickly agreed to his resignation and informed the Speaker of the Islamic Council of this issue in an official letter.Part of Malekzadeh’s resignation letter stated: I deny all the dishonest accusations attributed to me as frankly as possible. I have not had a case in any court so far and I do not have any bad record.
Salehi also wrote in part of his response to Malekzadeh’s resignation letter: Surrender yourself to God Almighty, who is surely the best refuge.
Malekzadeh was previously the vice president of tourism in the cultural heritage and tourism organization in the 9th government, and he was appointed as the secretary of this council in the 10th government with the establishment of the Supreme Council of Iranians.
