The stories of the indifference of the secular government of the Republic of Azerbaijan to its internal opponents and neighbors would go on for a long time, but it is useful to mention some of these stories. Apparently, irregular behavior is considered a fundamental principle in this country, and it is no surprise to anyone that supporters of the right words are put behind bars. In this atmosphere that does not require imaging, the most famous defender of human rights has recently been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Leila Younes, head of the Peace and Democracy Institute of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is considered the most famous defender of human rights in this country, has been accused of financial corruption; A controversial verdict that expresses controversial facts in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Leila Younes is not the first example who is sentenced to punishment because of a fake verdict, usually all the opponents of this country have such a fate.
Mrs. “Ann Castenos-Sen” from Amnesty International has emphasized: “Since last summer, we have witnessed the intensification of repressions in Azerbaijan. A number of human rights defenders and social activists of Azerbaijan have been arrested without any charges and after several months no court has been held for them. For some of these arrested people, prison terms of seven to eight years have been set.” The German parliament also passed a resolution calling for the release of political activists imprisoned in the Republic of Azerbaijan. But the government of this country emphasized that the people imprisoned are not political prisoners, and said that this action of the German parliament was done to defame the Republic of Azerbaijan. Indifference and even more stubbornness is not only about religion, but also about neighbors like Iran; So that in textbooks and historical works, historical distortions and descriptive descriptions of hostile Iran can be seen. An example of historical distortions can be seen in a panel above the grave of Abolfazl Elchi Bey, the former president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where large parts of Iran are depicted under the map of a hypothetical unified Azerbaijan.Historical distortions in books written in the Republic of Azerbaijan can be divided into three categories; Books written by foreign researchers at the request of the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, such as the book “The Inspiration of a President’s Appearance” written by Graham Wilson, and obvious distortions can be seen in the first chapter of this book; The books written by the heads of the ruling body of this republic, such as several recent books by Ramiz Mehdif, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who, even in his latest book, refers to the Afsharia government, which the absolute majority of historians have no doubt is Iranian, as a government. Turk introduces that he has taken Iran under his control and the third category of books that were written for teaching in schools and universities of Azerbaijan. (3) One of the school books in which the wave of anti-Iranism is seen in an unprecedented way is the book “Ata Yordu” which is taught in the fifth grade of elementary school. In this book, he introduces Iran by using expressions such as murderer and vampire. Also, in this book, a hypothetical map of united Azerbaijan is depicted, which includes parts of Iran, Russia, Iraq, Turkey and Georgia.Such examples show the element of antipathy towards Iran and the violation of territorial integrity sovereignty. The arrest of the participants in the Quds Day demonstrations is another example of this country’s opposition to the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region. It has its own historical monument. Therefore, we are witnessing the historical distortions of this country towards some of its neighbors.
On the other hand, Azerbaijan’s association with criminal countries like Saudi Arabia and the infamous Zionist regime is also done openly. What does Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Saudi Arabia mean at the height of this corrupt regime’s attacks on Yemen? A trip that has faced protests from Islamist parties, including the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan. In such an environment where Saudi Arabia has committed these crimes against the oppressed people of Yemen, it is not possible to hold protest rallies in condemnation of Saudi actions in this country. Finally, it can be claimed that Azerbaijan’s full-fledged politics has left nothing short; Both in domestic and foreign politics, we are witnessing the performances of this northern neighbor. It is known that they say “a friend like you is enough for a thousand enemies.” Such an example speaks for the words of the people of this country and neighbors like Iran towards the policies of the government of Azerbaijan. What are the realities of the Azerbaijan government’s behavior towards its citizens and neighbors that are outside of international principles? The profit of such a policy fills whose pockets?
