  • Abstract:

In this article, Sikand has studied the beliefs of Christian Zionism and its goals and plans. By examining the book The Last Dawn in Jerusalem, written by John Hagee, he has shown that Christian Zionism is looking for crusades and world war to prepare the ground for the reappearance of Jesus. In this book, Christian Zionism’s false and superstitious beliefs about God, Jesus, and Jews are given, and Sikand, referring to the contents of this book, has examined the end of the world from the point of view of Christian Zionism.

Today, Jewish Zionism is one of the strongest forces and the most important players in world politics, and this has been expressed by hundreds of small sects and churches. Christian Zionism has various types that have minor differences, but the essence and principle of its message in general is to support the state of Israel and the imperialist plan of Zionism. Christian Zionists have greatly influenced the Bush cabinet. Bush himself can also be a Christian Zionist to some extent; Because his policies in the Middle East and other regions clearly reflect the agenda of Christian Zionism or are in line with it.

War, victory and imperialist dominance, based on the insistence on the absolute truth of Christianity and also the insistence on the racial superiority of the Jews, is right at the heart of Christian Zionism. Christian Zionists believe that the Jews are God’s “chosen people” and that God has given them the right to dominate not only Palestine but a wider area, from modern Egypt to Iraq, under the title of “Greater Israel”. They say that God created Jews above all other people. Therefore, they emphasize that those who oppose the imperialist plan to support Greater Israel or the occupation of Palestine by the Zionists are “enemies of God” and deserve to be killed by any means possible, including open attack and massacre. be defeated.

However, supporting Israel does not mean that Christian Zionism considers Judaism as a legitimate way to salvation after Christianity. It also does not mean true love and affection for Jews; Because if this was the case, then it would have deviated from the traditional principles of the church, which views Jews as “killers of Christ”. Therefore, Christian Zionists believe that Christianity is the only religion acceptable to God, and as stated in the Bible, salvation is only possible through Christianity; They also emphasize that Jews can be saved only when they believe in Christianity. However, since the Christian Zionists and staunch defenders of the State of Israel are strongly anti-Arab and anti-Muslim, they have been able to establish a close relationship with right-wing Jewish groups and the State of Israel, and today they have become an inseparable part of the US-Israel alliance.

Christian Zionism seeks world war. Beliefs such as Christianity is the only truth and all other religions are either “satanic” or “false”; And that all the Jews should gather in Palestine to fulfill the famous mission of the Bible; And yet this belief that a great world war will occur soon, which will lead to the killing of hundreds of millions of people and the “second coming” of Christ, clearly shows the expansionist world plans of Christian Zionism.

John Haughey is a prominent example of a zealous Christian Zionist and the founder and spiritual leader of the Cornerstone Church in Texas, USA, which has about 16,000 members. His church, like other Christian fundamentalist missionaries in America, receives a lot of gifts and also has influence in the media. Hagee is the head of the media company “World Christianity Propagation”, whose daily programs are broadcast on radio and television in America and around the world. He is the author of several books about Christian Zionism, and some of his books have been published by Christian fundamentalist publishers abroad.

One of Hagi’s most important writings about Christian Zionism is the book “The Last Dawn in Jerusalem”, which explains the imperialist programs in the essence and essence of Christian Zionism well and with examples. The purpose of the book is to defend the occupation of Palestine by Israel and condemn those who seek to oppose Israel’s atrocities, and also to support the cause of “Greater Israel”; And he does all this in the name of Christianity and with the assumption that the Jewish people are God’s chosen people.

As Hagee has stated many times, racism complements the message of Christian Zionism. Hagee says that the Bible has described Jews as the apple of God’s eye. Regarding the Jews, he quotes from the Bible that “You are a holy people and the prince and ruler of God, and the Lord has chosen you to be His people and a special treasure, and above all the people who are on earth.” As Hagee argues, this means that those who harm the Jews and the State of Israel, or who stand in the way of the Great Israel plan, will experience the immediate wrath of God. Hagee declares to those who dare to fight against the oppressive State of Israel. He says: “A person or a nation that raises its hand or voice against Israel has requested God’s wrath.” He emphasizes that such people will be cursed by God.

Concepts and theories about God are like the Jewish tribal God, which is used as a tool to achieve Jewish development. The Bible was written by Jews because, as many liberal Christians have acknowledged, much of it is man-made. Many of the systems of the Bible are aimed at giving legitimacy to the interests of the society that the writers of the Bible have drawn. This issue seems obvious to ordinary people, but the supporters of the literal translation of the Bible, like Hagi, strongly disagree with this matter. For them, every word of the Bible is sacred and divine. The Christian Zionist imperialist and racist programs have inevitably used the literal translation of the Bible. With the help of a large number of verses from the Bible, Hagee states that “the Lord of Israel is like a parent who covers and protects the head of his only child. It protects.” He clearly states that “the country of Israel was created by a powerful act of God. All other nations were created by violent acts or declarations of soldiers, but Israel was purposely created by God so that He would have a physical place and inheritance on earth. Therefore, Haghi asks us to believe in God who needs a “material place” for himself. Non-Jews are second-class or lower beings, and therefore, if it is seen that they stand in the way of Jewish colonialism, they will be easily eliminated.

This Jewish tribal god presented by Hagi is not only impartial in dealing with his creatures, but also completely oppressive and tyrannical. It seems that according to the fact that the biblical literal conception of God is a Jewish God, not the God of the whole universe who looks at all his creations impartially, Hagi considered the domination of the Jews over the land of their enemies as sacred. Therefore, he quotes from the Bible and writes that God has given the land of Great Israel, which includes a wide area from the whole of Egypt to Iraq, to the Jews (the children of Isaac) forever. Therefore, the people who live in those areas – millions of Muslim and Christian Arabs – do not have the right to live there, or that they have to accept life under the rule of the Jews. Although he does not explicitly admit that the meaning of the above is that those who refuse to accept the rule of the Jews will either be killed or thrown out.

Imaginations of God are a delusional dealer. he writes: “God has determined the geographical borders of the country of Israel. When the Lord revealed the Torah and the Gospel, the exact boundaries of Israel were included in it. He adds: “The divine cartographer has determined the original area of the Jewish state and decreed that no one should change these lines. The contract of real estate and lands was signed in blood and it has stood in blood for a long time. Hence he argues: “As God commanded, the land of Israel, especially the city of Jerusalem, is the absolute right of the Jews.” Therefore, he says that the Palestinians have no right to their historical land and should open the way for the Jewish occupiers.

Defenses of Zionist colonialism continue to a ridiculous extent. He says: “Israel has a spy in the sky who is God himself. God gives special protection to Israel, the Jewish people and the country of Israel. No country in the world can face Israel’s defense forces. The special duty of Michael, the close angel of God, is to protect Israel. And those who oppose Israel for any reason, including the Palestinians who fight against Israel’s oppression and occupation, will bear God’s wrath: “God, with his eyes fixed on the country of Israel and especially Jerusalem, is responsible for protecting it in the darkest nights.” Hagi claims that those who fight against Israel are [actually] fighting against God.

For God of tribalism, Israel is so central that he believes that the destiny of every person on the planet is fundamentally dependent on his attitude towards the Jews: “Prosperity and prosperity or punishment depends on our behavior with Israel.” His argument is this: “… because the Jews, as the children of Abraham, benefit from divine support.” To strengthen and support his statement, he quotes from the Bible that when God made a covenant with Abraham, he gave him a “terrible promise” and said: “I will praise whoever praises you, and whoever curses you, I will curse. And all the families of the earth will be praised according to you. Therefore, he emphasizes that the United States and anyone else who wants to please God must participate in “compassionate support for the State of Israel” without any contradiction; He adds: “The fastest and most effective way to be on God’s side is to be with Israel and the Jewish people in their time of need.” He says, whoever does this, can get God’s support; Because “God praises a person or a nation that praises Israel or the Jewish nation.”

Strong beliefs in support of Israel and Zionist colonialism have never been more decisive than now. He says, this is because Jesus will return to earth soon and Israel must be protected to receive Christ. Hagee’s picture of Jesus in his “second coming” bears no resemblance to the popular theory of suffering and loving Jesus. Rather, in his description, Jesus is like a fierce warrior called “the ruler of peace” who strengthens Christians with weapons and announces the final world war. In the doomsday that Hagi has planned, attacks by Arabs on Israel, especially Jerusalem, will increase and he calls it “fanatical attacks”. He says that the Christians of the world should line up with Israel in response to these attacks. He emphasizes that at this time “we must inform the people of the world that if a line is to be drawn, it must be drawn around Jews and Christians. We are united and indivisible.”

Hagi believes that the city of Jerusalem is the difficult issue of the final battle before the reappearance of Christ. This city is equally sacred to Jews, Muslims and Christians. Therefore, he says that God has commanded that Jerusalem will be under the exclusive control of the Jewish nation until the return of Jesus. He writes that the final battle between good and evil (Armageddon) which will take place with Arabs or Muslims who want to take control of this city out of the hands of the Jews, will be concentrated in Jerusalem. In this regard, Hagi says that Christians should do their part defend Israel and reject any peace request such as the proposal of a joint Jerusalem or the joint control of Jews and Arabs over this city. In particular, he wants the United States to do everything in its power to support Israel and destroy its opponents; He says, this is the only way to get God’s grace. He warns that if America fails to do this, it will itself be destroyed by God.

Quoting from a number of Bible verses, Hagi describes what he has seen as the unfolding of events on a global scale, which is the beginning of a global war that has never been seen before and heralds the second coming of Jesus. He says, in this world war, the Muslims – whom he considers followers of a false religion – will unite with the Russians to fight against Israel. This may lead to a global nuclear war with hundreds of millions of dead. At this time, the “Anti-Christ” is formed and attacks Jerusalem and takes parts of the world under its control. And he falsely claims to lead these regions to peace. But this great deception will not last long and instead, it will lead to more destructive wars. Hagi says that at this time, Christians should defend the Jews and Israel with every possible means and declare war on the enemies of this God’s chosen race – the Jews. He emphasizes, only then they (Christians) can be saved.

Hagi writes that after years of world war and terrible destruction, Jesus is sent by God to save the world. He rides a white horse to the battlefield of good and evil. He defeats the “Anti-Christ” and his army and establishes his world kingdom in the capital of Jerusalem and reigns and rules from there forever. Hagee’s description of Jesus’ future reign provides little incentive to support non-Christians and even the Jews he so vehemently defends. As he himself makes clear, this is exactly the same Christian empire, and there is also an overthrown empire with kings, queens and great chieftains still in place. How they still exist all over the world, while Jesus rules the whole world, is a mystery that Hagee has not answered.

Hagi writes that “Beit al-Maqdis, the apple of God’s eye, will become a place of joy for the world under the rule of Jesus.” This city becomes the center of global worship and people from all over the world come to visit and worship in its holy place of worship. Kings, queens, princes and presidents should come to this holy city to praise Jesus. Probably all of these are Christians themselves, because Hagee quoted the Bible and prophesied that “every kingdom should worship the name of Jesus and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is the ruler of the great Lord.”

As Kitabhagi clearly states, Christian Zionism is rooted in the common belief of the Crusades, and the long history of church victory is a recipe for world war and Christian colonialism. In addition, it shows the lack of genuine spirituality and seeks to reduce the concept of God to the size of a despotic, racist, narcissistic and petty ruler who wants to kill innocent people out of desire to protect development plans. The will of the chosen people is hypothetical. Of course, Christian Zionism is not unique in using religion for violent political ends, but with these extensive additions made by its supporters, especially in America, it is a threat to peace that is much more dangerous than what is sometimes thought. and they cannot be simply dismissed as unimportant ramblings of madmen.
