An American senator said: We are worried that the process of the Iranian revolution will be repeated in Egypt.
In an interview with VOA, Mark Kirk said: “I am worried because the Egyptian revolution may lead to the fate of the Iranian revolution in a multi-stage process.” . We have seen several stages in a revolution; First, the removal of the dictator, second, the formation of a weak temporary government, and third, the formation of a permanent government. In Iran, we got from the Shah to a very weak government and finally to the government of Ayatollah Khomeini. I am worried that this process will be followed for Egypt as well and a new kind of Islamic dictatorship will be used quickly.
This senator is a genius! Like all American officials, he preferred not to mention the fact that the White House has defended a brutal dictator named Hosni Mubarak in Egypt for more than 3 decades, and has no right to comment on dictatorship and democracy. This senator has brazenly claimed despite the fact that the White House stands by all the dictators in the region: We are the best country in the world, but not because of the economy and the army, but because of our values [!!] America is the strongest force in history in preserving human dignity and freedom. Even now, we see that all over the Middle East, people wish for freedom and democracy.
In another part of the Voice of America interview, Kirk faced the question that “will the quick withdrawal of our forces from Afghanistan cause Iran to take our place?” He answered: Yes, I think that if we leave Afghanistan quickly, most of western Afghanistan may come under the power and authority of Iran, and this is bad.
This Republican senator said about Barack Obama’s anti-Iranian policies: Undoubtedly, President Obama’s policies regarding Iran have been very good. He signed all-round sanctions against this country and very quickly announced his positions regarding the equipping of Hamas and Hezbollah and the nuclear program, but I am worried that not enough has been done behind the scenes. In the middle of the green movement, he did not name Hossein [Ronqi], Navid [Khanjani], Nasreen [Sotoudeh] and Jafar [Panahi] enough [!] He should apply the sanctions with more force.
Do you think the sanctions will affect Iran? Mark Kirk emphasized in response to this question: No, I think the sanctions have weakened quickly.
