The Holy Qur’an attributes many miracles to the prophets, for example, Moses had nine miracles1 And Jesus also had many miracles, some of which are mentioned in the Qur’an.2 And But the type of miracle is determined by what criteria? According to the Qur’an, the miracles of the prophets are of two types: 1- basic miracles 2- suggestive miracles and all kinds of characteristics And it has conditions that will be mentioned.
۱٫ Basic miracles
Basic miracles are determined by God’s will and the suggestion of people or the Prophet has no effect in determining their type. Like the staff of Moses, the resurrection of the dead by Jesus and the presentation of the Holy Quran by the Messenger of God (PBUH). Most of the miracles presented by the prophets were like this. These kinds of miracles are related and appropriate to the cultural and social status of the Prophet who is the owner of the miracle. As during the time of Prophet Moses (pbuh), sorcery and sorcery were widespread, so the miracle of this prophet was a staff that turned into a great dragon. During the time of Prophet Jesus (pbuh), medical and therapeutic matters had made significant progress in Greece and Rome, but the miracle of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) – that is, raising the dead and healing the terminally ill – was far superior in nature to the works of It had a common treatment. At the time of the Messenger of God (PBUH), the Arabic language was at its most eloquent. Here, the Holy Qur’an was revealed as a miracle of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), and he challenged Arab orators and orators to a competition to produce a book like it, and proved everyone’s inability in this direction. 3
۲٫ Suggestive miracles
Proposed miracles or suggested miracles, with the suggestion of people and after prayer And the Prophet’s request and God’s approval is presented to them. The descent of heavenly food during the time of Jesus 4 And Hazrat Saleh’s camel during the time of this Prophet 5 It is one of these kinds of miracles that both were presented following the request of the people and God’s grace. During the time of the Messenger of God (PBUH), the Arab polytheists asked the Prophet (PBUH) for a number of issues as miracles, which were not accepted by God.6 As before, some people during the time of Moses (pbuh) made their belief conditional on seeing God, which of course faced the descent of heavenly lightning.7
It can be said that the divine tradition is based on the presentation of elementary miracles by the prophets, and the request for more suggestive miracles was justified with a negative response from God and the Messenger. This has several reasons:
First – in terms of People are allowed to ask for a miracle from a prophet in order to find out his veracity, but there is no right for the people to determine the type of miracle and limit the prophet to miracles, because people do not agree on the type of miracle and each of them They will make an offer.
Second – many deniers of the prophets who performed miracles from They demanded, they were not truth-seekers, but more in the position of seeking excuses, obstructing and even proposing some kind of deal, they submitted requests to the prophets, as the polytheists of Quraysh said to the Messenger of God: “We will not believe in you, unless there are springs of water.” Break open for us from the heart of the earth, or create for you a garden of dates and grapes Come and you will make the rivers roar through its groves, or the stones of the sky – as you say, will fall on the unbelievers. It has fallen on us, or bring God and the angels to confirm your words, or a house full of patterns (of gold) will appear for you, or you will go up to the sky, and we will not even believe in your going to the sky, unless A letter to send it down to us so that we can recite it. Say, “My Lord is beautiful (from these worthless words), am I not a human being, the Messenger of God?” 8
Third – The denial of the proposed miracles has undoubtedly led to the descent of heavenly punishment, and this itself has been another reason for God’s opposition to such proposals from the people. Because the denial of miracles O that type Let the people determine it, it is far more expensive than denying a miracle that has been determined by God. From this, God Almighty to Hazrat Jesus said: “I will send you heavenly food (which was requested by the companions of Jesus), but whoever disbelieves after that, I will punish him as I have not punished anyone in the world.” 9
