| Two days before the martyrdom and on the sidelines of the International Islamic Awakening Summit in Tehran
More than a decade has passed since the military presence of the United States of America in Afghanistan, and the best excuse for its continuation is still the fight against terrorism. Self-created terrorism, the price of which is paid by the Muslim and oppressed people of Afghanistan. The assassination of Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani, the former president of Afghanistan, is the last masterpiece of the presence and implementation of the anti-terrorist policies of the Sultanate regime in Afghanistan. Martyr Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani was one of the people in the front line of the struggle against the invaders, both during the occupation of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union and the left movement, and during the occupation of this oppressed country by NATO and the West. His presence in jihad movements started from the very beginning of Afghanistan’s need for brave men. He was one of the founders of Jamiat-e-Islami party, which is considered one of the important jihadi groups in Afghanistan, and people like the late Ahmad Shah Massoud, the Lion of Panjshir Valley, were among its effective members.*
Professor Rabbani was a guest of the Islamic Awakening Summit in Iran early last week, and on the opening day, he expressed his views and opinions regarding Islamic Awakening. Our short conversation with the late chairman of “Afghanistan Peace Council” was conducted two days before his martyrdom.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran has spoken many words about Islamic awakening in different situations. Considering the gaps that exist in the Islamic world, what effect do you think these words have had on the Islamic world and on different countries?
There is no doubt that first of all, the Supreme Leader’s writings and speeches about Islamic awakening are greatly appreciated, especially in countries that share a common language. Of course, Arab countries have a different situation. These words will have less impact in some Arab countries because of the governments and systems that rule over them, but in general, the positions and policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in matters of Islamic awakening have been attractive to the young generation. Therefore, they constantly follow his talk and are influenced by it.
You see that there have been uprisings in the Islamic world, especially in the Arab world, and this is the beginning of a new phase. His views have changed the atmosphere a lot in intellectual and religious issues as well as in political and international issues.
But the positions and words of the Supreme Leader regarding global arrogance and the Zionists have made their way among the young generation; Although I think that there is still room for work so that different groups, especially in the Islamic and Arab world, get more familiar with his thoughts and views. It goes without saying that there is a stream of purposeful and hostile religious and sectarian propaganda against him, and it pursues the goal of not clarifying most of his views on various issues. Therefore, considering the current situation, there is a need for more enlightenment and new and serious propaganda so that Muslims and especially the youth of the Arab world understand that there is a deep connection between their demands and the historical background of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. We hope, God willing, as the days go by, new developments will take place among the young Arab generation.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized on this point that people should be careful in these new developments so that colonialism does not enter with a new face and false clothes. Now there is a need to define and explain a suitable model of Islamic government. In addition, they emphasize that there should be a difference between Western democracy and liberal democracy and religious democracy. Do you think how much they feel this need in the Islamic world and can apply this suggestion and experience of the Islamic Republic?
Now we are in a situation where secularism and liberal democracy have failed and are no longer attractive in the whole world, especially in the Islamic world and the Arab world. In the discussion of the model, however, this “religious democracy” which is intended, should be further explained. Everyone needs to understand what’s going on here, because it’s possible that many facts will not be clear in the dusty atmosphere of propaganda. Of course, in any case, the acceptance and demand for the model of religious democracy that exists in the Islamic Republic will increase, and these propaganda dusts are fleeting.
But still after these uprisings, the Islamic and Arab world is in a transitory phase; A stage that has passed the traces and defilements of the past and needs time to pass. Therefore, more work and advertising is necessary, as well as the need to emphasize on the deep links that exist. We hope that these things mentioned by the Supreme Leader will be realized soon.
